Please join us for an evening celebration of El Camino Real de los Tejas National Historic Trail! The
event will take place on April 14, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the Border Heritage Museum
located at 810 Zaragoza Street, Laredo, Texas 78040.
El Camino Real was the “Royal Road” that extended from the Spanish vice-regal capital of Mexico City
to Los Adaes, the first capital of Texas. Designated as a national historic trail by the United States
Congress in 2004, El Camino Real de los Tejas was the road that led to the founding of Texas!
The two hour celebration of the Camino Real will feature introductory remarks by representatives of the
National Park Service’s National Trails Intermountain Region and a presentation by Steven Gonzales,
executive director of El Camino Real de los Tejas National Historic Trail Association, titled “El
Camino Real de los Tejas: Past and Present.” The event will also serve as an opportunity to network
with organizations and individuals interested in advocating and protecting El Camino Real in Texas and
Mexico. Light refreshments will be provided.
