The Webb County Heritage Foundation has selected seven honorees to receive the prestigious Heritage Award to be presented at the Founders’ Day Luncheon on May 23 at 12 noon at the Laredo Center for the Arts. Each year, the Webb County Heritage Foundation recognizes individuals, businesses, organizations, and families that have contributed to the unique architectural and cultural heritage of Webb County.
This year’s award winners are as follows:

Ms. Toni Ruiz is receiving the Luciano Guajardo Award for her personal generosity in providing and sponsoring historical exhibits for our community’s public enjoyment.

Dr. George T. Díaz will receive the Jim Parish Award for publication of his latest book, Border Contraband, A History of Smuggling Across the Rio Grande.

Dr. Alicia M. Dewey will receive the Jim Parish Award for her publication of Pesos and Dollars, Entrepreneurs in the Texas-Mexico Borderlands 1880-1940.

The late Ms. Martha F. Fenstermaker, long-time board member of the Webb County Heritage Foundation, will be posthumously presented with the Special Lifetime Achievement Award for her exemplary commitment to the arts, environmental issues, historic preservation, and downtown revitalization.

The Webb County Heritage Foundation is proud to present these worthy recipients with a Heritage Award in recognition of their services in preserving this region’s history and cultural heritage.
The awards presentation will take place during the Founders’ Day Luncheon on May 23rd at the Laredo Center for the Arts, 500 San Agustin Avenue.
