LAREDO, TEXAS — The Webb County Heritage Foundation, in collaboration with the Imaginarium of South Texas, invites families to explore, discover, and learn during Noche de Museos: Junior Edition, a special evening designed especially for young museum explorers.
Perfect for curious kids and their grown-ups! The inaugural Noche de Museos: Junior Edition will take place on Friday, July 24, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., giving children and their families the opportunity to visit participating museums, complete hands-on activities, and earn small rewards along the way.
Participants will travel between three locations, each offering a unique experience:
• Republic of the Rio Grande Museum(1005 Zaragoza Street) – Become a Junior Curator by exploring exhibits and learning about the artifacts that help tell the story of Laredo's past.
• Border Heritage Museum(810 Zaragoza Street) – Become a Junior Archaeologist while investigating the Ancient Landscapes of South Texas: Hiding in Plain Sight exhibit and learning about the region's prehistoric past.
• Imaginarium of South Texas (West End Washington Street Building P-149) – Become a Fossil Finder and discover the fascinating world of fossils, dinosaurs, and extinction through hands-on activities.

"Noche de Museos: Junior Edition is an opportunity for families to experience our museums together in a fun way," said Andrea Ordoñez, Director of Operations for the Webb County Heritage Foundation. "We hope this event inspires curiosity, encourages learning through exploration, and helps young visitors see museums as places where discovery happens every day."
“The Imaginarium of South Texas is proud to be part of Noche de Museos in partnership with the Webb County Heritage Foundation,” said a representative of The Imaginarium of South Texas. “We hope this event becomes an annual tradition where children and families can learn more about fossils, dinosaurs, and extinction in a fun and engaging way. We invite the entire community to join us for this exciting event and be part of an unforgettable museum experience.”
Families who are unable to attend on July 24 will have additional opportunities to participate on July 31, August 7, August 14, and September 11. Participants may complete activities over multiple visits, with September 11 serving as the final opportunity to earn a certificate.
The event is free and open to the public. Families may begin at any participating location and proceed at their own pace throughout the evening.
