The Webb County Heritage Foundation is pleased to announce support from H-E-B for Paper Jam, the Foundation’s free monthly journaling and creative program. H-E-B’s contribution will provide supplies and refreshments for Paper Jam gatherings through the remainder of 2026, helping WCHF continue offering the program at no cost to the community.

Zaira Lopez, Laredo Area Community Coordinator with H-E-B Border Region Public Affairs, presents H-E-B’s support for Paper Jam to Andrea Ordoñez, Director of Operations for the Webb County Heritage Foundation.
Launched in December 2025, Paper Jam brings people together each month at the Villa Antigua Border Heritage Museum to journal, collage, make books, experiment with paper, and explore different forms of creative and personal storytelling. Each gathering features a new theme or activity while giving participants the freedom to follow the prompts, work on their own projects, or simply spend time creating alongside others.
“Paper Jam has grown into such a wonderful community, and we are incredibly grateful to H-E-B for helping us continue to make it accessible to everyone,” said Andrea Ordoñez, Director of Operations for the Webb County Heritage Foundation. “Providing supplies may seem like a small thing, but it removes a barrier to participation. Someone can walk into Paper Jam without a journal, without materials, and without any experience and still sit down, make something, and be part of the group.”
Paper Jam is part of WCHF’s ongoing effort to create new and approachable ways for people to engage with museums, storytelling, and memory keeping. Through journaling, collage, bookmaking, zines, and other creative activities, participants are encouraged to document not only major moments, but also the everyday experiences that make up their own stories.
H-E-B’s support will help WCHF provide materials and snacks for the remaining Paper Jam gatherings of the year while allowing the program to remain free and open to the public.
“We believe history is not only something we preserve from the past. It is also something people are creating and documenting every day,” Ordoñez added. “Paper Jam gives people a space to slow down, create, and record a little piece of their lives. We are very thankful to H-E-B for recognizing the value of that work and supporting our community.”
Paper Jam is also made possible through the support of the County of Webb, the City of Laredo, the Guadalupe & Lilia Martinez Foundation, IBC Bank, La Posada Hotel, Laredo Thrift and Center for Creative Reuse, and the many community members who generously contribute supplies and materials to the program. Their support helps WCHF keep Paper Jam free, welcoming, and accessible to everyone.
Paper Jam takes place monthly at the Villa Antigua Border Heritage Museum, 810 Zaragoza St. in downtown Laredo. Participation is free, and no previous journaling or creative experience is required.
